Weekly Website Wednesday: Shrekfest

It’s Shrekfest, the annual celebration of all things Shrek in Madison, WI! Live Shrek music! Shrek games! Shrek onion eating contest! And Shrek beer, because it’s flippin’ Wisconsin!

One time, when I was in Madison, WI, I was accosted by a drunk Santa Claus at 3am.

Weekly Website Wednesday: Animated Muscle Women Wiki

In my strange internet adventures, I randomly came upon the Animated Muscle Women Wiki and… I… Wut?

They’re cataloging every instance of a muscly woman in animation, but whycome?

Apparently, it isn’t porn and nudity is banned from the wiki, but…. hhhmmmm…

I find this wiki anthropologically interesting and I think that it needs to be documented.

Weekly Website Wednesday: The Lost Media Wiki

The Lost Media Wiki is a wiki that compiles what information that can be found about the existence of various media that have disappeared off the face of the planet.

It’s a useful resource to confirm that weird things from your youth, that only you remember, did, in fact, exist. I was really happy to learn that a cartoon from when I was little, The Bush Baby, actually existed and wasn’t just a fever dream. But then I was sad that there is no trace of the English dub to be found anywhere. Not even a clip.

If you want to help them out, check out what exists on old VHS tapes and magazines and such in your basement.

Weekly Website Wednesday: Mastodon

What is Mastodon? It’s a decentralized, open-source social network based on GNU Social. What does that mean? It’s confusing and it doesn’t work very well! Whatever! It’s the hip, new, disruptive technology that’s taking the Millennials by storm! It might even replace Twitter. (No it won’t.)

There are actually several Mastodon networks that interconnect. I’m at social.targaryen.house, but you could join shitposter.club, or memetastic.space, or even anitcapitalist.party, and we can all still talk to each other! Wouldn’t it be better and less confusing if everyone was on the same server? I don’t know. Maybe.

By the by, I’m not sure that I trust Mastodon’s security. I would suggest using a different password than your usual one, if you join.
